Chinoiserie of a Late Summer Garden
Size (h w d): 8.125 x 8.125 x 0.76 in
Medium: Mixed Media, Acrylic, Alcohol Ink, Wax on a Cradled Wood Support in a Bespoke Frame
Framed Size (h w d): 12 x 12 x 0.85 in
Series: Imaginary Flowers
A theme I return to often is that of imaginary flora and fauna. The creatures and flowers and trees that I imagine if I were to design a world.
This painting melds my imaginary flora with the organic and irregular form of the garden. It stands as an opposing compliment to historic silk embroidered Chinoiseries of perfect and symmetrical gardens. My garden is wildly beautiful. Vines curling out of control. Shown late in the summer, with ebbing flowers preparing to go to seed and winter dormancy.
